AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2005 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD
The Canadian Air Transport Security Authority said on Thursday (28 July) that passengers should not bring toy weapons on flights because they were causing delays at airport security.
In the January-June period of this year Canadian security screeners found nearly 3,000 toy guns, water pistols, toy grenades and other items resembling real weapons, which look like threatening objects through an X-ray machine.
In 2004 the interception of prohibited items at airport security checkpoints in Canada caused delays totalling 15,000 hours, the authority said.
